As time progressed, tattoos evolved and spread to different parts of the world, each culture adopting and adapting the practice to fit their unique customs and beliefs. In Japan, the intricate art of Irezumi became a prominent part of culture, originally associated with spiritual and decorative purposes before evolving into a symbol of the Yakuza, the Japanese mafia. In Western societies, tattoos went from being a mark of rebellion or criminality to a mainstream form of self-expression and artistry. Today, tattoos are a global phenomenon, blending traditional and modern designs, and continuing to evolve as a powerful means of personal and cultural expression.
